20 Years Ago This Week, Aaliyah Released Her Worldwide Hit Single 'Try Again'

We Love The 90s - Urban Music

Aaliyah ushered in a new decade and millennium with 'Try Again' when the single was released 20 years ago on February 22, 2000.

Thanks to Timbaland's production, she gave radio a revitalized sound with the slick electro-R&B jam. 'Try Again' remains as one of the late singer's signature songs and its influence still reverberates in music today.

The single was released in early 2000 as the lead cut from 'Romeo Must Die' soundtrack. Aaliyah co-starred in the action-packed film with Jet Li. On June 17, 2000 'Try Again' by Aaliyah Hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Aaliyah originally launched her career in 1994 with the debut album Age Ain't Nothing But a Number.
