Telemundo has released the first trailer for the new series El Secreto de Selena (Selena’s Secret). The story is an adaptation of the book also titled El Secreto de Selena, written by Telemundo journalist Maria Celeste Arrarás and published in 1997. "El Secreto de Selena" has yet to air in the U.S. But controversy has swirled around the series for months.

"El Secreto de Selena" is based on the 1997 book of the same name by Maria Celeste Arraras, an Emmy-winning journalist with millions of followers. It promises a behind-the-scenes look at the death of the Tejano singer, anchored by three intertwined stories: Selena (Maya Zapata), who gives everything to achieve success; Yolanda (Damayanti Quintanar), who has a fixation with her idol; and Maria Celeste (Sofia Lama), the journalist who had exclusive access to those involved and led an extensive investigation surrounding the assassination.
Arrarás participated co-executive-produced the series with Fernando Barbosa, Luis Balaguer, Leonardo Aranguibel and Francisco Cordero. Also, the series was produced by Buena Vista Original Productions, Moconoco, LatinWE and BTF Media.
