Brandy and Monica Both Respond to the Idea of a 'Verzuz' Battle

Ever since it was announced that Jill Scott and Erykah Badu will partake in a VERZUZ battle, fans are already requesting that Brandy and Monica need to be added to the line-up.

The original idea came from Brandy’s brother, Ray J while doing an interview with Wendy Williams. Ray said that he couldn’t do battle because his catalog of hits isn’t as steep as others but he mentioned that his sister can definitely do it.

“Brandy, she could battle. A good Brandy and Monica battle? Ooooh.” Since then, both Brandy and Monica have given their opinions on the idea.

Brandy stated that she wasn’t against the idea of a battle with the Atlanta singer.

“I’m open to it but I haven’t really thought about it. I don’t know. I’m open. I’m open for it. I’m not closed-minded.”

However, Monica feels differently. In a recent interview, the singer said that she doubts that she will be a part of a battle whether it will be against Brandy or anyone else.

“I guess I kind of feel like, I understand the idea of it and I think it’s really, really entertaining and an incredible idea.”

She went on to say,

“I think battles, one thing that has happened to me my whole career, is being polar opposites makes it dope. And I tell people all the time because the only battle or Verzuz they want to see with me is me against Brandy, and the reality is, people, have put us against each other for twenty-something years.”

Monica is referring to her collaboration with Brandy for their 1998 hit “Boy Is Mine”.
